Funeral service for Marcille Tucker, age 95, of Denton, Texas will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas with Rev. Gary Dyer and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Grove Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, TX 75228 with Steve Tucker, Jason Tucker, JR Fisk, David Fisk, Mark Hoffman, and Thomas Earwood serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Barrington, Eddie Joe Barrington, Tommy Tucker, and Buff Tucker. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs. Ms. Tucker passed away at Rambling Oaks Courtyard in Highland Village, Texas on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Ruby Marcille Barrington Tucker was born January 1, 1929 in Bloomburg, Cass County, Texas the daughter of Ottis Barrington and Louella Sasser Barrington. She graduated from Bloomburg High School and attended East Texas State Teachers College (TAMU-Commerce). She married James L. Tucker on January 18, 1947 in Commerce, Texas. Immediately following their marriage they moved to Dallas where they lived for 35 years before returning to Hopkins County. She worked at Sears Mail Order in Dallas and as an executive secretary in the textbook publishing business. Upon her return to Hopkins County in 1982 she worked at ETSU as a secretary and supervisor of media and technology, retiring in 1994. While a member of Cumby Mt. Zion Baptist Church, she served as church clerk for many years before moving to Sulphur Springs and becoming a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sulphur Springs area of Retired School Personnel, Woodmen of the World, Take off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), Mt. Zion Ladies Association, Hopkins County Genealogical Society, and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In later years, she was a full-time healthcare provider for her husband. In 2019 she moved to Denton, Texas to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter’s families.

Marcille is survived by her daughter, Sonja Anita Holton of Denton; son, James (Jim) Leroy Tucker II (Patty) of Janesville, Wisconsin, grandchildren, Holly Holton-Hoffman (Mark) of Denton, Dallas Tucker (Briana) of Jakarta, Indonesia, Kyle Tucker (Nicole) of Longmont, Colorado; step-grandchildren, Todd Pulver (Joelle) of Spokane, Washington, Sarah Pelletier of Reston, Virginia, Ryan Shalm (Jordan) of Janesville, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Elias, Lawrence, and Alastair Tucker, Carson, Sophia, Max, and Seojin Tucker, Harlow Hoffman, Justin, Tree, Jimi, and Tripp Pulver, Gable and Campbell Pelletier, Cash and Dylan Shalm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tucker; parents, Louella Swift and Otis Barrington; brothers, Charles Barrington and Milton Barrington; and son-in-law, Greg Holton.
