Lt. Harris Sr.

Funeral services for Lt. George K. Harris, Sr., age 57 of Sulphur Springs, TX, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Pate officiating and Scott Lee, Stacy Sears, Bill Reese, Kenneth Adams, Todd Brackhahn, and Bruce Roberts serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Robert E. Harris, Jr., John Frederick Harris, Carter Barnes Harris, Brooks Roberts, and the men of Journey Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church.

Lt. George K. Harris, Sr. passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX. He was born February 22, 1959 in Newellton, LA to Dr. Robert Harris and Dr. Mary (Barnes) Harris. He Married Nancy Adams on May 31, 1980 in Clyde, TX. Mr. Harris was a CVE Lt. for DPS in Tyler TX. He was a member and Deacon of Journey Baptist Church. He was also a Gideon, missionary, and a member of the Department of Public Safety Officers Association.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife; children, George Keith Harris, Jr., Jacob Adam Harris, Seth Emmerson Harris and wife Jacquelynn, Matthew Robert Harris and wife Diana; grandchildren, Mason Carter Harris, Conner Matthew Harris, Sophie Elena Harris; brothers, Robert E. Harris, Jr. and wife Charlene and John Frederick Harris and wife Teresa; mother, Dr. Mary Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents John and Bettie Barnes and Fred and Audry Harris.
