Funeral services for Loyd Reed, age 69, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2012, with Rev. Bobby Keller officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeway Cemetery, with William Reed, Mark Reed, Paul Reed, Roger Reed, Richard Reed, Randall Reed, Morgan Wooten and William Braun serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012.
Loyd Reed passed away Thursday afternoon, February 23, 2012, at Sunny Springs Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Hopkins County on October 2, 1942, the son of Marvin "Doc" Ray Reed and Leona (Keller) Reed. He was retired from Gee Glass and Mirror and he was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his father, Marvin "Doc" Reed, daughter, Robin Taylor and Robert Orsburn; son, Pat Reed and wife, Lisa, all of Sulphur Springs; five sisters, Betty Long of Garland, Rhonda Falls and husband, Todd, of Dike, Peggy Brzeski, and Helen Smith all of Sulphur Springs; seven brothers, Richard Reed and wife, Becky, of Commerce, William Reed and wife, Ellen, of Rowlette, Paul Reed and wife, Sharon, of Waco, Roger Reed and wife, Josephine, Ricky Reed, Steve Reed, Jerry Keller and wife, Marion, of Mahoney, Bobby Keller and wife, Janet, and Mark Reed and wife, Brenda, all of Sulphur Springs; 6 grandchildren, Jacqueline Wooten and husband, Morgan, Destanie Walls and husband, Buddy, Jamie Williams and husband, Jerry, William Braun, Patricia Reed and William Reed, Sr. and 11 great-grandchildren, Ethan Wilson, Brooklynn Reed, Jacie Braun, Colby Wilson, Lexie Braun, Ilee Williams, Hunter Walls, William Reed, Jr., Keyston Braun, Rylee Bennett and Abigail Wooten. He was preceded in death by two sons, Loyd Ray Reed, Jr. and Andy Reed; sister, Mary Jane Medina and his mother.
