A graveside service for Lily Marie Hughes, age 88, the mother of Troy L. Martin of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at Trinity Memorial Park Chapel, in Big Springs, at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Lily "Marie" Hughes went home to be with her Lord, on Sunday, April 20, 2008. She was born on August 15, 1919, in Rosston, Arkansas, the daughter of John Andrew and Ruth Grifford Jackson. She married Alvie Hughes, on April 12, 1949, in Seminole, Texas. He preceded her in death.
Marie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She touched the lives of everyone she knew by her kind, loving, and generous spirit. She always saw the "sunny" side of things and spread joy to all those around. Her pride and joy was her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: one son, Troy L. Martin and wife, Ruenell, of Sulphur springs; two step-sons, Nathan Hughes and wife, Deanie, of Big Spring, and Calvin "Bud" Hughes and Joe of Knott; grandchildren, Troy M. Martin of Greenville, Micheile Greenfield and husband Eddie of Belton, Malaina Ferrell and husband Chad of Sulphur Springs, Mark Horton and wife Eileen of Little Elm, Pam Sellers and husband Tom of Sulphur Springs, Mike Horton and wife Gina of Cooper, John Horton and wife Jill of Frerick, Oklahoma, Paul Horton and wife Cindy of Sulphur Springs, Sherry Yezak of San Antonio, James Morgan and wife, Barbara, and Ricky Hughes and wife Leah, all of Big Spring, Connie Zant and husband David of Ackerly, Linda Huston and husband Rick, and Mitch Gill; numerous great-grandchildren; four nieces; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; three sisters; one step-daughter, Jean King; one grandson, Gary Hughes; and one nephew, Grady Cunningham.Au
