Funeral services for Levata Ishmael, age 79, of Pickton, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010, with Rev. Ricky Self, Randy Self and Vivian Berry officiating. Interment will follow at Rockdale Cemetery, with Tommy Bryant, Rick Copeland, Rad Copeland, Matt Bates, Josef Fleming, Ken White, Billy Don Sloan and Tim Schwab serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Greenwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2010, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel.
Levata Ishmael passed away at her residence, Wednesday, February 17, 2010. She was born in the Rockdale Community on July 22, 1930, the daughter of Marion James Self and Mary Jane (Rushing) Self. She married William B. R. Ishmael in Sulphur Springs on July 23, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1976. Mrs. Ishmael was a homemaker and a retired health care provider from Northeast Texas Health Service. She was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Catherine Bryant of Boyce, Louisiana, Janet Copeland of Weaver and Karen Sloan of Cooper; two sons, James Ismael of Pickton and Billy Ishmael of Boyce, Louisiana; two sisters, Ida Lawrence and Dorothy Clem, both of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Tommy Bryant, Vickie Laue, Banks Ishmael, Ashley Copeland, Lauren Copeland, Mary Jane Sloan, Lisa Sloan, Billy Don Sloan and Kara Sloan; great-grandchildren, J. T. Bryant, Joey Laue, Taylor Laue, Evelyn, Grace Laue and Ellora Holt. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Alma Truxell, Lois Wright, Geneva Crowson and Dora Faye Self and four brothers, Floyd Self, Lester Self, L. T. Self and Randall Self.
