Graveside services for Lester D. Coker, age 100, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Yantis Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2012, with Rev. Kenneth Rhoades officiating. Mark Coker, Jeff Lee, Jake Ferrell, Adam Tadlock, Alan Hague, Catan Runyan and Cooper Lee will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 6- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lester D. Coker passed away in Sulphur Springs, Wednesday, February 1, 2012. He was born in Wood County on February 23, 1911, the son of Thomas Coker and Minnie Mae Nichols.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lynda Brown and husband Delbert of Yantis and Mary Gamblin and husband Warner of Sulphur Springs; six grandchildren, Donna Gamblin, Kelly Humphrey, Robin Gamblin, Lori Ann Lee, Kim Hughes and Shannon Hague; twelve great grandchildren, Johanne Smitherman, Catan Runyan, Natalie Ward, Orion Runyan, Tonya Runyan, Mary Humphrey, Adam Tadlock, Hope Ferrell, Cooper Lee, Kasey Watkins, Megan Hughes and Lynzee Hague; seven great-great grandchildren; an extended family friend, Pauline McAree and family and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Ester Massey; sisters, Gertie Nichols, Myrtie Hyde, Lucille Davis and Juanita Ferguson; baby twins, Jessie and Bessie Coker; brothers, Albert Coker and Odell Coker and a great grandson, Beau Runyan.
