Funeral services for Leonard Odell Clem, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2009, with Dr. Lynn Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, with David Taylor, David Dugan, Thurman Newkirk, Travis Clem, Tim Clem, Gary Clem, Shawn Clem, Danny Clem, and Sergio Rodriguez serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Clem, Don Deaton, Sam Speed, Gene Orwosky, Marlin Crabb, and C.W. Bottoms. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Leonard Clem passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Carriage House Manor. He was born in Cumby, on March 30, 1922, the son of Joel James and Cliffie Ann Wood Clem. He married Bonnie Crabb, in Sulphur Springs, on June 26, 1948; she preceded him in death on January 18, 2009. Mr. Clem retired from the City of Sulphur Springs Street Department and a member of League Street Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army in World War II and received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include: son, Bobby Clem, and wife, Patti, of Mustang, OK and Michael Clem, and wife, Debra, of Sulphur Springs; brothers, Joe T. Clem, of Sulphur Springs and Cecil R. Clem, of Terrell; sister, Lola McFadden, of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Gary Clem, Jennifer Rodriguez, Shawn Clem, and Tara Clem; great-grandchildren, David Rodriguez and Emily Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Olen Clem and Lovell Clem and one sister, Dessie Martin.
