Laverne Guidry

A graveside service for LaVerne Flora Guidry, age 91, of Como, will be held at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas, at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2009. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
LaVerne Flora Guidry passed away at Sulphur Springs, Health & Rehab, Friday morning, February 13, 2009. She was born in Algoma, Texas, on August 12, 1917, the daughter of Paul and Bessie Edith Coleman Flora. She married Swin Guidry at Alvin, on October 3, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Guidry was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Alvin.
Survivors include: brother, Maurice Flora and wife, Betty, of Como; sister, Bernice Thompson of Ashville, North Carolina and two sisters-in-law, Arlene Flora and Bo Flora, both of Como. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lester Flora and Herbert Flora. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Radio and T.V. Ministry in Sulphur Springs.
