Funeral services for Larry David Gumpert, age 60, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Baxley officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, with Jerry Whitson, David Alkire, Roger Maynard, Emilio Grimaldo, Robert Grimaldo and Don Grimaldo serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Larry David Gumpert passed away at his residence Sunday morning, January 8, 2012. He was born in Dallas on January 30, 1951, the son of J. W. and Lucy Gumpert. He married Kathleen Hurley at Red Oak on September 16, 1972; she survives. He was a truck driver and a member of Reilly Springs Baptist Church and OOIda Truckers Association.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Doris Annette King and husband, Sean, of Deming, New Mexico and Angela K. Gumpert-Thompson of Cedar Hill; two sons, Brian Gumpert and wife, Cheryl, of Alto and Clayton Scott Gumpert and wife Sherolyn of Greenville; two sisters, Rena Jenkins of Canton and Ruby Dell Grimaldo; grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Vaughn, Sara and James Shotwell, Alex and Zoe King, Katelin, Kyle, Cole and Clay Gumpert, Tyler and Brianna Thompson and four great-grandchildren, Lillian Vaughn, Lucy Ann Shotwell, Abby Shotwell and Jami Gumpert. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry Wayne Gumpert and sister, Sheryl Verdoorn. Memorials may be made to Helping Hand, 6214 FM 1567 East, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
