Funeral services for Katherine Gail (Kathy) VanSickle will be conducted at 11.am. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Wright officiating. Burial will be in Greenpond Cemetery.
Kathy VanSickle died Thursday morning, April 19, at her home in Sulphur Springs after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 21, 1956, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Orville T. and Melba Joye Orville Sparks. She moved to Texas at an early age and was a resident of Sulphur Springs for many years. She was a graduate of Como-Pickton High School.
She married David VanSickle on July 2, 1994, in Sulphur Springs.
Kathy was affiliated with Wesley Methodist Church and worked as a secretary for Kiser's Glass Technology until her illness. She was a dedicated bowler, served as president of the local women's bowling association, and held numerous offices in local leagues. She was a member of the Classic Lanes Hall of Fame. She is remembered for her infectious laughter, upbeat personality and kindness toward others.
Survivors include her husband, David, of Sulphur Springs; daughters Misty Richardson of Dallas and Stefanie Lehman of Killeen; son-in-law Jeffrey Lehman of Killeen; sister, Dianna McGaugh and her husband, Reggie, of Montgomery; niece, Amber Ogle; nephew, James Ogle of Spring; mother-in-law, Lois VanSickle of Killeen; brothers-in-law, Joe VanSickle of The Colony and Mike VanSickle of Austin; and numerous friends.
Pallbearers will be Craig Kiser, James Flanagan, Noah Ray, Louis Lufkin, Justin Parmer and James Parmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Brown, Pat and Jack Bowen, Larry Glen Neil, and Buck Satterly.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Kathy's memory.
