Joyce passed away on June 15, 2015 in Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs under the care of Legacy Hospice. She was born in Golden, OK and celebrated her 87 birthday last August. She was the daughter of Cleo F. Clifton and Opal Matthews and was later parented by stepfather, Guy Matthews. Joyce married her high school sweetheart on January 9, 1945 at the courthouse in Idabel, OK. She graduated high school at Wright City, OK. She worked for various companies in office and management support positions to help support her family and assisting her husband to complete college and theological seminary after the Lord called them to pastoral ministry in California from 1952-1995. After missionary training she became an associate missionary with her husband for the Southern Baptist International Mission Board in Trinidad Tobago and Turks-Caicos Islands. They returned home in December, 1988 and retired at Emory, Texas and then moved to Sulphur Springs in 1996 where they served and were members of the First Baptist Church.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin O. Perimon. They were spouses, lovers and friends and support to each other for sixty-eight years.
Joyce is survived by her children, Brenda J. Baker (husband, Darrell/Silver Springs, MD), Edwin Larry Perimon (wife, Donna/Fremont, CA) and Marlyne S. Perimon (Paris, TX); her grandchildren, Rachel Reiter and Laura Barlow (Murrieta, CA), Joyce Jones (husband, Brian/Tampa, FL), Lydia Nichols (husband, Ronald/Deport, TX) and Clinton Cooper (Capt. USAF and wife, Christine/Colorado Springs, CO).
She is also survived by two brothers, Oliver Matthews (wife, Leoda/DeQueen, AR) and Frankie Don Clifton (Ft. Mead, MD). She was preceded in death by a baby sister, Mildred Clifton.
Joyce leaves a legacy of being a beloved spouse, mother and friend. She will be remembered for her gentle strength, and a wonderful sense of humor with her own brand of sayings and comments. She filled her home with laughter, songs and love. Her smile and kind spirit drew people to her. We, her children and family, called her "blessed" and lift her up to God and rejoice as she dances with her loved ones in heaven.
