Funeral services for Johnny Ray Moseley, age 70, of Cumby, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Cumby, with Pastor Michael Moore and Pastor Joe Valdez Sr. officiating. Jerry Parker, Ken Burtch, Tony Harry, David Lemon, Dave Stephens and Ben Rucker will serve as pallbearers. The Hopkins County Military Coalition will conclude with military honors following the funeral services.
Johnny Ray Moseley was born January 31, 1939 in Hopkins County, the son of Johnny Alvin Moseley and Beula Mae Moseley. After graduating from Cumby High School in 1957, he served in the US Army from 1961-1963. Mr. Moseley retired from Dairy Farmers of America, formerly known as AMPI, in 2001. While living in Cumby, he served on the Cumby ISD school board, Cumby telephone board and as a city judge.
Mr. Moseley is survived by wife Betty Jean Moseley of Cumby, sister, Jean Parish of Whitesboro, sons Johnny Paul Moseley of Rowlett, Jimmy Gater of Puyallup WA, Daughters Gina Green of Cumby, Susan Ameling of Chandler, , sons-in-law, Kevin Green of Cumby, Dean Ameling of Chandler, daughter-in-law Kristy Moseley of Rowlett, grandchildren, Ashley Greene, Amber Greene , Ariel Greene, all of Cumby, Cody Gater , Shiloh Gater, both of Puyallup WA., Kennady Moseley of Rowlett, Mason Moseley, both of Rowlett, Justin Moseley, Kory Moseley, Ethan Moseley, all of Como; great-grandchildren Kain Elmore, Harlow Greene, Lilyana Gater. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Deldon Moseley.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Saturday, August 15th at the First Baptist Church of Cumby.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to Hopkins County EMS, Hopkins County Hospital 2nd floor nursing staff and 1st Choice Home Health nurse Denice Slemmons and a special thanks to Dr. Joe Valdez Jr. for his loving and compassionate care.
