John Flanagan

Funeral services for John D. Flanagan, age 70, of Valley View, formerly of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Brashear Cemetery, with Ronny Skaggs, Lynn Williams, Justin Adair, T. J. Freeman, Cody Morgan and Wayne Skaggs serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
John D. Flanagan passed away at his residence, Monday morning, June 22, 2009. He was born in Brashear, on July 24, 1938, the son of Arlis and Christine King Flanagan. He married Linda Alexander, in Miami, Oklahoma, on August 15, 1980; she survives. Mr. Flanagan was a retired truck driver. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957 and was stationed in South Dakota and Guam.
Survivors include: four daughters, Angela Murray and husband, Brandon, Lisa Ray and husband Noah, Donita Morgan and husband David, Misty Veracruz and husband, Josh, all of Sulphur Springs; son, Johnny Joe Flanagan of Garland; grandchildren, Biondi Spencer, Breona Bevill, Katie McCarley, Haley Morgan, Kayla Morgan, T. J. Freeman, Cody Morgan, Dillon Flanagan, Tori Flanagan, KeAirah Veracruz and Malachi Veracruz; great-grandchildren, Kamri Spencer, Brennan Smith, Kylie Spencer, Layla McCarley, Reese Ashworth, Phoenix Capobianco and Adley Mannon; sister, Sandra Williams and husband, Lynn, of Greenpond; brother, Cecil Flanagan and wife, Sharon, of Sulphur Springs and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joyce Marie Flanagan and Mary Ann Payne; grandparents, Jennie and John King and Drew and Mary Flanagan.
