Funeral service for Joe Ridgell, age 86, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at League Church of Christ with Steve Ridgell, Joe Don Ridgell and Jerry Savage officiating. Pallbearers are Bobby Gilbreth, Justin Hebert, Charles Mann, Jr., Paul Ridgell, Erik Stanford and Rob Wacaster; Honorary Pallbearers are the League Street 39ers. Visitation is 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Piney Grove Cemetery in Prescott, Arkansas.
Joe Ridgell died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. He was born in Prescott, Arkansas on May 1, 1928, the son of Herbert M. and Tennie House Ridgell. He was a retired parts supervisor for LTV and owned and operated numerous Laundromats. He served as a Deacon at Trinity Heights Church of Christ, Elder at Duncanville Church of Christ and Sunday School teacher as well as Leader of the 39ers at League Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include: His wife, Juanita Mann Ridgell of Sulphur Springs; a son, Steve Ridgell of Abilene; a daughter, Jan Frank of Greenville; Five grandchildren, Julie Gilbreth, Joe Don Ridgell, Christin Stanford, Amanda Frank and Jenna Frank; Great grandchildren are Anna, Andrew and Austin Ridgell, Jake and Avery Gilbreth and Kameron Muse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Elsie Elmore, Bertie Brown Katie Pittman and Evelyn Hooks and one brother, Dick Ridgell.
