Joan Doss

Funeral service for Joan Doss, age 84, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant with Will Doss, Ben Doss, Clay Smith, Cory Glover, Cody Benge, Matt Benge and Canyon Smith serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Mrs. Doss passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Wesley Oaks, Sulphur Springs, TX

Joan was born on January 14, 1935 in Marshall, Texas to J.T. and Ruby Thomas.  She married Burl Doss on September 6, 1958 in Marshall, Texas.  He preceded her in death in 2007.  Joan worked as a Clerk for the Texas Forest Service and was a longtime member of Summit United Methodist Church in Marshall.

She is survived by her children, Tommy Doss and wife Tana of Tyler, Julie Smith and husband, Barry of Sulphur Springs, Donna Benge and husband, Carey of Cedar Park; grandchildren, Will Doss, Ben Doss, Clay Smith and wife, Dichele, Callie Smith Glover and husband, Cory, Cody Benge and wife, Rebekah, Matt Benge and wife, Laura, Mia Benge; great grandchildren, Canyon Smith, Charleigh Smith, Cooper Smith, Quinn Glover, Olivia Glover, Leland Benge, Luella Benge; brother, Johnny Thomas; sister-in-law, Brenda Thomas.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Dudley Thomas and sister-in-law, Gail Thomas.
