Jo Ann Gibson

Gibson, JoAnn Adele, of Glenn Heights, TX, slipped away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, at the age of 71.  JoAnn was born on September 03, 1951, in Honolulu, HI, to John & Mary Hammond, the firstborn of nine siblings.

In her younger years, she became quite the seamstress.  She could sew skirts, doll clothes, baby clothes, and her famous cow dolls.  She also loved to travel, especially with her friends.

In July of 1981, she married Gary Lynn Gibson, and between the 2 of them, they raised three children, Monte, Nicki, & Ricky.       

Soon after, she started working for the Sulphur Springs Police Department as a 911 Dispatcher.  This became her love and passion, and she devoted 28 years of service. 

It was evident that she enjoyed her family.  Whether it be the Friday Family Dinners, the Annual Easter Bash, Christmas, or Baby Showers, Jo was always there and had a smile.

Jo is preceded in death by her baby brother James, her mother, Mary, her father, John, her husband, Gary, her son Ricky, her grandson Keith, her brother-in-law, Jon, and several other family members.

She is survived by her daughters, Nicki Hilburn & Monte Masters; her grandchildren, Zach, Luke, McKenna, Jake, Dakota, Calvin, & Gary; and her great-grandchildren, Maddie, Kallie, & Kansas.  JoAnn is also survived by her loving siblings, Jeanne (George) Saxon, Julie Campos, Janis Lewis, John Hammond, Jerry (Linda) Hammond, June (Terry) Malone, Jeanette (Brady) Martin, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends like family.

Services are set for Monday, January 16^th, at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs and will be officiated by Jerrod Hammond. Visitation is from noon - 1:30 pm, and services follow at 2 pm. Interment will be immediately followed at Gafford Chapel. Pallbearers will be Jason Saxon, Paul Edge, Trace Low, Jay Hammond, Josh Wilson, Josh Stewart, Jerry Hammond, & John Hammond. Honorary Pallbearers include the Sulphur Springs Police Department.
