Funeral Services for Jimmie D. Thompson, age 89 of Sulphur Springs, will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Military graveside honors and interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park with Hunter Vaughn, Michael Rogers, Matt Rogers, Ross Scott, Adam English and Kelly Stubbs serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Gillis, Randy Hall, Johnny Rushin, Dennis Jordan, Harlan Patterson, Thomas Pace and Sonny Rogers. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mr. Thompson passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Sunny Springs Nursing Home in Sulphur Springs. He was born on August 12, 1925 in the Nelta Community the son of William N. and Nettie Lancaster Thompson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired truck driver, equipment operator and rancher. He married Johnell Wunsche who preceded him in death in 2001.
Other survivors include: sons, Michael Thompson and wife, Sherri of Sulphur Springs, Bill Thompson and wife, Debbie of Winnsboro and Frank Thompson and wife, Bobbie of Dike; daughter, Emilie Vaughn of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Amanda Scott, Ginger Thompson, Brandy Reynolds, Ashley Thompson, Michael Rogers, Matt Rogers, Tanya English, Janet Stubbs, Jackie Young, Marisa Jones, Hunter Vaughn and Sabrina Haggerty; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Earl Lancaster and one grandson, Michael Vaughn.
