Funeral services for Jim Gossett, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. Rev. Fred Lewis and Dr. Mark Gossett will officiate.

Interment will follow services in the Black Oak Cemetery, with Jonathan Gossett, Andrew Gorssett, Gary Anderson, Tommy Marty, Holly Hollenshead, and Bruce Cain serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m, Monday, February 21,2011, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Mr. Gossett passed away on Saturday evening, February 19, 2011, at Mother Frances Hospital, in Tyler. He was born in the Black Oak Community of Hopkins County, on March 15, 1931, the son of Frank C. Gossett and Emma M. Foster Gossett. He married Joe Shelton, who preceded him in death in 2007. He then married Janet Evans Anderson. She survives.

Mr. Gossett was the retired owner of Gossett Construction. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge No. 221, and the Gideons. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Other survivors include: two sons, Mark Gossett and wife Lynda, of Clarksville, and Gary W. Anderson and wife Laura, of Tyler; two daughters, Rebecca Marty and husband, Tommy, of San Antonio, and Vicki K. Cain and husband Bruce, of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Jonathan Gossett, Andrew Gossett, Sarah Gossett, Rachel Castleberry, Stacy Dennis, Melissa Summerlin, Kelly Anderson, Stephen Anderson, Kristen Hauser, and Staci Curtis; and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Hollenshead; and one brother, Lee Roy Gossett.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Clarksville Building Fund, 1501 U.S. Highway 82 West Bypass, Clarksville, TX 75426.
