Jesse Rasure

Funeral services for Jesse (Shorty) Rasure, age 92, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2009, with Shane Carrington and Noel Bailey officiating. A graveside service, with military honors, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Pud Brice, Pat Potts, Joe Rodriguez, Wally Hart, Charles Adams and Scott Isham. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Neal, Jason Neal, Jon Neal and Jeremy Reynolds. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Jesse (Shorty) Rasure passed away Monday night, February 2, 2009, at Carriage House Manor. He was born in Dike, Texas, on August 21, 1916, the son of Avera and Lillie Wilburn Rasure. He married Evelyn Johnson in Dike, on October 19, 1940. She preceded him in death. Mr. Rasure was an educator administrator, business owner and realtor and a member of Dike Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army during World War II and he was a member of Masons of Scottish Rite.
Survivors include: daughter, Gayle Cristopher of Houston; son, Ron Rasure of Berkley, California; granddaughter, Kimberley Paige Dillehay and husband, Craig; great-grandson, Blake Dillehay all of Pearland; brother-in-law, Billy Joe Johnson of Houston and a host of nieces and nephews.
