Jerry Smith

A memorial service for Jerry Smith, age 62, of Como, will be held at Elm Ridge Baptist Church, at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2009, with Dr. Randy Boyte officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Jerry Smith passed away at his residence Saturday morning, July 4, 2009. He was born in Sulphur Springs, on October 9, 1946, the son of Willie E. Smith and Ruby Lee (Barrett) Smith. He married Tamra Wilson at Lake Cypress, on April 20, 2007; she survives. Mr. Smith was a retired carpenter and a member of Elm Ridge Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard and was the commander of the American Legion in Mt. Vernon.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jarrod Smith, Anthony Smith and wife, Brittney, all of Pine Forest; mother, Ruby Lee Smith of Sulphur Springs; two daughters, Ashley Elmore and Amanda Mason, both of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Lois Horton of Sulphur Springs and Sue Armendariz of Royse City; brother, Mack Smith of Dallas and grandchildren, Saylor Paige Smith, Jacob Kole Smith, Aysha Day, Levi and Ace Mason, Trent Smith and Kai Hampton Elmore. He was preceded in death by his father.
