A funeral service for Jerry Dan Moss, age 72, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Phil Smith and Charles Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at Little Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mason Burgin, Connor Burgin, Kevin Seaton, Corey Burgin, Daniel McLarry, John Eric McLarry, Russell Crayton and Chris Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Shepherding 3 Sunday School Class and Brooks Burgin. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Jerry Dan Moss passed away Thursday morning, November 21, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Wood County on October 19, 1941, the son of Oscar Jack Moss and Rosalee (Whitworth) Moss. He married Barbara Vanginault in Sunnyvale on November 29, 1997; she survives. He was a retired pastor and a machine shop owner. He was a graduate of Dallas Baptist College and Seminary. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs and he was a Mason in the Mesquite Masonic Lodge. He served in the United States Army Special Forces as a Green Beret.
Other survivors include: daughter, Shawnye Moss of Royce City; stepdaughters, Jennifer Seaton and husband Kevin and Teffany Burgin and husband Corey; sister, Sandra Lorance and grandchildren, Jessica McLarry, Daniel McLarry, John McLarry, Mason Burgin, Connor Burgin and Brooks Burgin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leon, Jack, Norman, Dexter, Joe and William Moss.
