Funeral Service for J.B. McQueen, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Peerless Cemetery with Lucas Flournoy, Matthew Flournoy, Donald Hopper, Logan Oxford, Bryan Scott, and David James serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs. Mr. McQueen passed away at Rock Creek Health and Rehabilitation in Sulphur Springs on Monday, August 12, 2024.
J.B. McQueen was born on December 28, 1945 in Cooper, Texas to Odie and Beatrice (Scott) McQueen. J.B. showed cattle and was a Dairy Farmer for many years. He was also a basketball referee for High Schools around this area where he met and was known by many local families. J.B. was a member of the First Baptist Church.
J.B. McQueen is survived by his sister, Judy Lawson of Sulphur Springs, Texas; niece, Laura Peavey and husband Michael of Ben Wheeler, Texas; nephew, David Oxford, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, Texas; great-nephews, Lucas Flournoy and wife Brittany, Matthew Flournoy, Logan Oxford; and great-great niece and nephew, Coleman Flournoy, Caroline Flournoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Beatrice McQueen; and nephew, Rodney Oxford.
