James Slay

Graveside services with full military honors for James Slay, age 83 of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 at New Harmony Cemetery in Ladonia, TX with Rev. Rick Higgins officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

James passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at his residence.

He was born on May 3, 1931, the son of Oscar and Bessie Mae (Smith) Slay in Ardmore, OK. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 with the ranking of Technical Sergeant.
He married Frances Geraldine "Gerri" Jackson on September 8, 1955 in Ladonia, TX. She survives.

Other survivors include daughter, Kathy Teutsch and husband, Norton of Georgetown; granddaughters, Amy Teutsch of Georgetown and Shannon Ahearn and husband, Darren of Sabillasville, Maryland and six great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, James W. Slay.
