A funeral service for Jake Mabe, age 83, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Military graveside services under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Landers, Bob Landers, Jack Landers, Tim White, Danny Cooksey and Brandon Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be C. D. Ballard and Ballard Trucking drivers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Jake Mabe passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Rock Creek Health & Rehab. He was born in Brashear on April 12, 1930, the son of Willie Estes "Bill" Mabe and Mable (Morris) Mabe. He was retired from Ballard Trucking and a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include: two sons, David Mabe and fiancé Tiffany of Mt. Pleasant and Tony Mabe and wife, Donna of Austin; two daughters, Gwen White and husband Tim and Karen Cooksey and husband, Danny; two brothers, Roger Mabe and Dee Mabe, all of Sulphur Springs; sister, Doris Mullen of Dallas; grandchildren, Brandon Fowler, Jennifer Meers, Brooke Jones, Justin Mabe, Tonya Odom, Nicole Thomison, Jordan Mabe, Jensen Mabe, Loren Cline and Hannah White and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Memorials may be made to Greenview Cemetery Association, P.O. Box1504, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75483.
