Funeral services for Imogene Merrell Gober, age 85, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009, with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, with Mark McClendon, Junior Hinton, Mark Rorie, Joe Dan Gober, G. V. Hughes and George Santacruz serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Barrett and Charlie Johnston. There will be no formal visitation.
Imogene Merrell Gober passed away Thursday afternoon, December 3, 2009, at Carriage House Manor. She was born in Sulphur Springs, on April 28, 1924, the daughter of Mack D. Merrell and Myrtle (White) Merrell. She married Joe A. Gober in Sulphur Springs, on December 5, 1946. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Gober was a homemaker, teacher and former owner of Gober-Merrell Chevrolet. She was a graduate of East Texas State Teachers' College. She was a former member of Jr. Waverly Club and member of Lena Day Garden Club.
Survivors include: daughter, Sue Nan Gober; son, Joe Mack Gober and wife, Nona; sister, Vonda Wright, all of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Day Mercy Gober, Katie Lynne Gober and Joe Dan Gober. She was preceded in death by brother, M. D. "Sonny" Merrell, Jr. Memorials may be made to Lake Country CASA, 218 Connally Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas, 75482.
