Services for Harold W. Flanary, age 74, of Yantis, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008, with Brother Larry Baxley officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, with Robert Porter, Richard Porter, Stanley Townsend, George Tunnell, Donnie Jennings and Larry King serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Porter, Gary King and Ron Flanary. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Harold W. Flanary passed away Sunday morning, June 15, 2008, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Enloe, on June 11, 1934, the son of William Elliott and Opal Gantt Flanary. He married Margie Petty in Dallas, on November 1, 1958; she survives. Mr. Flanary was a retired safety director for Ryder and a member of Reilly Springs Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army.
Other survivors include: son, Terry Flanary of Manhattan, Illinois; three grandchildren, Amanda, Ally and Andrea Flanary; two brothers, Rick Flanary of Sulphur Springs and Jack Flanary of Indianapolis, Indiana and sister, Billie Porter of Sulphur Springs. He was preceded in death by brother, Lowell Flanary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
