Military graveside services under the direction of Hopkins County Military Collation for Guy Jumper, age 104, of Como will be 2:00 pm, Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Como Cemetery with Rev. Michael Coker officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am till Noon on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Guy Wallace Jumper passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Como on June 22, 1905, the son of Gus and Richard Rose Johnson Jumper. Guy married Agnes Crinner Barnes in Hopkins County on April 1, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was a retired dairyman and farmer. Was a member of the First Christian Church of Como and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Dewayne & Linda Scarborough of Alba; two daughters & son-in-law, Sue & Paul Labbe of Paris, Sherry Lee of Como; two sisters, Drucille Johnson of Sulphur Springs, and Gussie Bayes of Dallas; grandchildren, Jan Tinney, Barbara Herd, Sharon Scarborough, Holly Boyd, Stacy Etherly, Chad Graham, Toby Preston, Bobbie Lee Robinson, Dennis Scarborough, David Scarborough, and Mike Scarborough; nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Carl Dean "Red" Scarborough, two brothers, Dub and Ned Jumper, sister, Hazel Staples, and one great grandson, A.J. Curran.
