Glenda Kay Hall, age 75, went to be with her Lord on September 6, 2020. She was at peace in her home and surrounded by family. Born on January 29, 1945 in Arden, AR, she was the daughter of the late C.W. and Deffie Matilda Moss. She is preceded in glory by her parents, her brother Ronald Cobb, and her grandson Robert George Damesworth III.
Glenda attended Ashdown High School and graduated in 1963. She graduated from Henderson State University in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology. She worked as a schoolteacher at Burke Street Elementary after college, and later spent her life supporting the ministry of her husband, Bro. Tommy Hall.
Glenda’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She had a winsome personality and an easy sense of humor, always bringing a smile to those around her. She will be remembered for her “sayings”, well timed and constantly providing laughter for anyone nearby. She will especially be remembered by her family for her famous Thanksgiving dressing, which she always apologized for its being “dry”—but she would always be pleased and give a wink when there was none left over after the meal. She had a special gift for taking life in stride, and for making sure everyone knew that she loved them “to the moon and back... 10, maybe 11, times”. She was always the life of any family gathering. She “ran the show” and made sure everyone knew it.
Glenda is survived by her husband Tommy Hall, son David Hall and wife Carol Hall, daughter Jamie White and husband Clarence White, daughter Kathryn Harvick and husband Michael Harvick, and daughter Jodi Damesworth; grandchildren Heather Roy and husband Chris Roy, John Hall and wife Lacey Hall, Matthew Hall and wife Laura Hall, Clinton Kirby Brown and wife Mia Brown, Kelsey Brown, Caleb Brown, Calli Damesworth, and Caden Damesworth; great-grandchildren Tucker Hall, Abby Roy, Mia Hall, Allie Rose Hall, Andi Hall, Laney Hall, Evan Hall, and Asher Hall; sister-in-law Sarah Cobb; two nieces, Laura Tucker and Katie Cullum.
There may have never been a prouder “MeMe”, and there’s not a member of her family left unchanged by her fierce love, concern, and dedication.
Glenda’s memorial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11AM at Davis Street Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, TX with a visitation beforehand at 10AM. Her earthly body will be cremated, and the ashes will be given to the family to memorialize her as they see fit.
Flowers may be sent via Danna’s Florist in Sulphur Springs. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) and the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org)—two organizations very close to Glenda’s heart.
