A funeral service for George W. Singleton, age 88, of Princeton, will be conducted at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Princeton at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013, with Rev. J. M. Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow at Stony Point Cemetery in Melissa. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2013 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
George W. Singleton passed away at his residence Sunday morning July 21, 2013. He was born in Sulphur Bluff, Texas on September 2, 1924, the son of Daniel Madison Singleton and Myrtle V. (Nichols) Singleton. He married Mildred Louise Mulkey at Sulphur Bluff on February 15, 1945. She preceded him in death in 2000. He was a retired engineer from Belo Broadcasting and he was of the Protestant faith. He served in the United States Navy as a medic in the United States Marines.
Survivors include: daughter, Jeanie Schmeichel of Princeton; granddaughter, Tracey Ratliff Lowden; grandson, Ronald Royce Ratliff II and great-grandchildren, Gabriel Babb, Shannon Marie Lowden, Timothy Scott Lowden and Grayson N. Lowden. Also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, a sister and two adult brothers Oren Wilson and Harold Dean Singleton.
