Funeral Services for George Dorner, age 71, of Sulphur Bluff will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Dodd and Rev. Debbie Rigsby officiating. Interment will follow in the Sulphur Bluff Cemetery with Jimmy Dale Fite, Tony Moore, Danny Ragsdale, Pee Wee Bassham, Fred Fielden, and Robbie Bland serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Sulphur Bluff Coffee Drinkers, Sulphur Bluff Masonic Lodge # 246 and the Order of Eastern Star # 246, Sulphur Bluff school kids, and Volunteer Fire Departments. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
George Dorner passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. He was born in Sulphur Bluff on September 29, 1942, the son of Joe Denver and Sybil Hankins Dorner. He married Patricia Ann Chester in Sulphur Bluff on May 31, 1963. She survives. George was a member of the Sulphur Bluff Methodist Church and Past Worshipful Master of Sulphur Bluff Masonic Lodge # 246, Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star # 246, and Charter member of the Sulphur Bluff Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include: wife, Patricia Dorner of Sulphur Bluff; sons, Timmy Dorner and wife, Veronica of Campbell, and Brian Dorner and wife, Dana of Dike; daughter, Karen Powers and husband, D.J. of Sulphur Bluff; brothers, Billy Joe Dorner of Dike, and Bert Dorner of Sulphur Bluff; sister, Dolores Bassham of Sulphur Bluff; grandchildren, Rebecca Bible, Nathan Dorner, Sarah Dorner, Amanda Knowles, Landon Dorner, Tori Dorner, Ann Marie Dorner, Kaci Powers, and Hunter Powers; great grandchildren, Payton Knowles and Noah Hall, and a very special, loving Mother-in-law, Marie Chester (Grandmother).
He was preceded in death by sister, Imogene Arthur.
