Funeral services for Erwin Haygood, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2008, with Rev. Kenneth Rhoades and Rev. Jerry Wiese officiating. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Reilly Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Haygood, Paul Haygood, Randy Haygood, Eric Haygood, Jonas Haygood and James Haygood. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Don O'Neal, Grady Tubb and Doyle Starrett.
Erwin Haygood passed away at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, Thursday evening, December 4, 2008. He was born in Bristol, on April 13, 1921, the son of William A. and Lillian Sewell Haygood. He married Billie Florence Douglass in Dallas, on January 17, 1944; she survives.
Mr. Haygood was a retired salesman for Trinity Distribution and a member of Central Baptist Church. He served in the United States Marines during World War H.
Other survivors include: three sons, Charles Haygood and wife, Ruth Ann, of Garland, Paul Haygood and wife, Faith, of Crandle and Randy Haygood of Sulphur Springs; brother, Clyde Haygood and wife, Evelyn, of Sulphur Springs; sister, Billie Jean Good of Frisco; grandchildren, Hannah Haygood, Hayley Haygood, Chris Haygood, Shawn Haygood, Eric Haygood, Paula Parks, Jonas Haygood, Ashley Haygood, James Haygood and Lindsey Haygood and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Shelby Haygood and George Haygood and sister, Eunice Anderson.
