Funeral services for Emma Jane Ashley Combs, age 90, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009, with Weldon Combs officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009.
Emma Jane Ashley Combs passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Sulphur Springs, on November 27, 1918, the daughter of Otto Ashley and Annabelle (Nipper) Ashley. She married Jim Tom Combs in Sulphur Springs, on January 25, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs. Combs was a retired elementary school teacher and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son, Wendell Combs of Mesquite; daughter, Joy Lundy of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; grandchildren, Danny Claycomb, Sharon Claycomb, David Claycomb, Abigail Lundy, Sarah Lundy and Michael Lundy and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, James Combs; four brothers and two sisters.
