A graveside service for Durwood Irby, age 69, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Black Oak Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2008, with Brother David Taylor officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Irby, Jimmy Oxford, Tanner Oxford, Randy Irby, Justin Harrell and Tyler Harrell. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Durwood Irby passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 2, 2008, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Pickton, on April 2, 1939, the son of Travis Carmen and Lydia Naoma Wilson Irby. He married Yvonne Messer in Dallas, on March 15, 1974; she survives. Mr. Irby was a retired office manager for Ross Refrigeration and a member of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include: his father, three daughters, Denise Aday of Plano, Sherri McKnight of Rowlett and Brandi Oxford of Winnsboro; two grandsons, Dylan Terrell of Japan and Tanner Oxford of Winnsboro; four granddaughters, Kayse Click of Rowlett, Kristin Terrell of Plano, Magan Oxford of Winnsboro and Madison McKnight of Rowlett; great-grandson, Evan Bryce Terrell of Japan; brother, Jerry Irby of Pickton; and sister, JoAnn Romine of Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his mother.
