Funeral Services for Dixie Dell Davis George, age 80, of Yantis will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2012, with Brother Byron George and Barry George officiating. Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery, with Eric George, B. J. Deverell, Joshua George, Jason Pierce, Jeff Garman and Steven Wilcox serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Brown. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday April 21, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Dixie Dell Davis George passed away in Heritage Nursing Home in Quitman Wednesday morning, April 18, 2012. She was born in Yantis on March 16, 1932, the daughter of Byron Davis and Edith (Slatten) Davis. She married Billy Joe George in Yantis, February 28, 1954. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of Seymore Church of Christ.
Survivors include: daughter, Debbie Deverell and husband, Billy Don, of Yantis; two sons, Byron George and wife, Martha, of Alba and Barry George and wife, Elaine, of Myrtle Springs; two brothers, Carl Davis of Winnsboro and Clifford Davis of Yantis; two sisters, Faye Barnes of Plano and Evelyn Crump of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Dori Pierce, Eric George, Donna Deverell, B. J. Deverell, Amanda Garman and Joshua George and great-grandchildren, James Evans, Lily Evans, Jake Garman, Eli Garman, Carson Pierce and Eason George. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Kyle George and Jennifer George; four brothers, Joy Davis, Melvin Davis. T. W. Davis and Ardell Davis and sister, Joyce Wyatt.
