Diane Logsdon (Doss)

October 31, 1938 — December 12, 2024

Edgewood

Diane Logsdon, age 86, of Edgewood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at a hospice hospital in Burleson, Texas, after a brief stay.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Pleasant Grove North Cemetery in Sulphur Springs. Pallbearers will be Greg Logsdon and Rick Logsdon. Honorary pallbearers include Thomas John Logsdon, Drake Logsdon, Pedro John Logsdon, Matt Logsdon, Hailey Wisener, Ryan Logsdon, and Christopher Logsdon.

Diane was born on October 31, 1938, in Colorado City, Texas to Henry Capleman Doss and Auta Mae Land Doss. After graduating high school, she attended Baylor University and later Texas Tech University, where she met and married John William Logsdon on August 30, 1958.

Diane supported John during his service in the U.S. Army and National Guard after college. The couple eventually went on to farm in the Texas Panhandle between Tulia and Kress. Later, they moved to Houston, where John worked for General Motors in their insurance division. Diane’s unwavering belief in John’s abilities was evident when she supported his bold decision to leave a secure corporate job—while raising four children—to buy $100 cars and sell them on an empty lot near their home! With her confidence and support, they built a successful venture, which grew into Gateway Motor Company in Beaumont, where Diane served as a capable office manager and bookkeeper.

After many successful years, Diane and John moved to Colorado Springs to oversee the renovation and leasing of a large office complex. They also lived in Kemah, continuing their involvement in a commercial real estate and climate- controlled storage business owned by Scott Monroe, a dear family friend.

Eventually, the couple settled just outside Canton, where they started another car dealership, Pleasantview, located along Highway 19 in front of their beautiful home.

Diane loved the adventures she shared with John throughout their 64 years of marriage. She enjoyed flying in the small airplanes John piloted, and even took flying lessons herself, successfully completing a solo flight. The couple also spent treasured moments sailing their own boat out of the Port Arthur Yacht Club and embarking on countless road trips around the country. Diane’s true joy was exploring the mountains, where she found peace in the snowy landscapes, the fresh pine-scented air, and the scenic beauty that surrounded her.

Her love for her family was evident, and she and John felt particularly blessed to have raised four accomplished children and to watch their family grow with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a mother, Diane was endlessly nurturing to every one of them. She was always there with a bandage for a skinned knee or Solarcaine for a bad sunburn. If someone was under the weather, you could count on her to have chicken soup at the ready. Her loving touch was evident in the gentle head rubs and back massages she gave, and her calming presence could ease any tension that arose within the family.

In 2012, that love and care were returned to Diane when she faced one of her greatest challenges: a cancer diagnosis that required major surgery to remove a kidney. While John and her children were deeply worried about her prognosis, Diane met the situation with her characteristic positivity and courage, refusing to see herself as a victim. By grace, she received an experimental treatment that not only saved her life but also gifted the family the precious bonus years they cherished so deeply.

After John’s passing in May 2022, Diane missed him every day, yet her optimism and gracious spirit continued to inspire those around her. In the end, she passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her children, as she awaited the moment she could be in John’s arms once again.

Diane is survived by her children: Dan Logsdon and wife Patricia, Lori Kelso and husband Dan, Greg Logsdon and wife Ana Maria, and Rick Logsdon and wife Aaron; her grandchildren: Thomas John “T.J.” Walton, Drake Logsdon and fiancée Baylee, Pedro John “P.J.” Logsdon and wife Sierra, Matt Logsdon, Hailey Wisener and husband Calvin, Ryan Logsdon, and Chris Logsdon. Also, her great-grandchildren: Emory Logsdon, Aeris Wisener, and Astreia Wisener.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, John W. Logsdon.
