A Funeral Service for Dewey Lee Humphrey, age 87, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton with Brother Patrick Gernenz officiating. A Military graveside service under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at New Pickton Cemetery with Paul Poarch, Brian Petraitis, Shawn Boyd, Eric Daily, and Darrell Marks serving as Pallbearers. Phillip Poarch will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Dewey Lee Humphrey passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at his residence. He was born on December 13, 1925 in Pickton to Lucian F. and Exie (Bain) Humphrey. He married Allene Cook in Dallas on March 11, 1948; she survives. Mr. Humphrey was a Gunner in World War II. He spent 35 years at Continental Electronics where he was a Machine Shop Foreman. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was the Sunday School Director.
Other survivors include: daughters, Patricia Lynn Poarch and husband J.D. of Sulphur Springs, Danita Kay Petraitis and husband Ed of Murfreesboro, TN, and Donna Lee Kile and husband Michael of Dallas; grandchildren, Phillip Poarch, Paul Poarch, Grace Kile, Brian Petraitis, Danielle Petraitis, and Hannah Kile; and one great-grandchild, Grace Marks.
He was preceded in death by brothers, J.D. Humphrey and Royal T. Humphrey, sister, Opal M. Blocker, and Infant daughter, Karen Roxanne Humphrey.
