Funeral service for Debra (Wooten) Davis, age 71 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Darrell W. Pryor officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. Debra passed away on November 15, 2024, alongside her husband, Roosevelt. 

Debra (Wooten) Davis was born September 9, 1953, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Henry Lee Wooten, Sr. and Euelar (Pryor) Wooten. She was the 3rd of eight children and a PROUD BIG sister to her younger siblings. She was always looking out and over them. She grew up in Hamilton Park and later moved to Vanette Lane, where she attended Bough Story and South Oak Cliff High School, graduating in 1972. During high school, Debra was a member of the drill team. 

After graduation, Debra married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Andrews, with whom she had three children. She worked at the Dallas Morning News, The Taylor Publishing Co. and Le’high Steck Warlick for many years. Years after her divorce, Debra married Roosevelt Davis on June 14, 1980, in Dallas, Tx at New Harmony Baptist Church. Her Uncle G.W. officiated the ceremony. The two started their union in Longview, Tx. Together, they had one child. Debra was active in the music ministry at several churches, including Mount Calvary, Bethel, and Park View Baptist Churches, and worked at Longview Cable Company.

Her music ministry in Longview, Tx began in 1980 and ended in 1994. In 1994, Debra was later called to become the Minister of Music at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, where she led numerous choirs and taught the Women’s Mission Class until her health declined.

She leaves behind four daughters: Savoy (Greg) Wilkerson , Sha Ree Andrews, Shava (Tracy) Ivery , and Shannon (Mike) Regalzi ; six grandchildren: Ja’Ryus, Josiah, Jeremiah, Esaias, Alanah, and Emiya; five brothers: Henry Lee Wooten Jr., Louis Wooten (Sheila), George Wooten (Melody), Gary Wooten, and Delvin Wooten (Akilah), one sister, Marilyn Hicks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Winfred Lee Wooten, and other beloved family members. 

Debra’s legacy of faith, music, and love will be cherished by all who knew her.
