A graveside service for David LeRoy Hanson, age 73, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Gafford Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Hall and Rev. B. J. Teer officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Utt, Cody Myers, John Peck, Keith St. Clair, Monty Wells and Roy McCasland. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
David LeRoy Hanson passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 8, 1939 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Hugh Desmul and Hazel Oma (Phillips) Hanson. He married Virginia Sue Wilemon on February 21, 1959 in Hugo, Oklahoma; she survives. He was a retired manufacturing engineer for Rockwell International. He held a bachelor of science degree from East Texas State University. He served in The Army National Guard and he was of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include: two sons, Billy Jack Orsburn, and wife, Candace , and Robert Orsburn and wife, Robin; daughter, Janet Hanson St. Clair, all of Sulphur Springs; brother, Phil Hanson and wife, Martha Gee, of Sugar Land; sister, Carole Gillespie and husband Charles, of San Angelo; grandchildren, Tosha Utt and husband ,Chris, Amanda Orsburn, Heather Myers and husband, Cody, and Judd Orsburn; great grandchildren, Aidyn Utt, Rylan Utt, Wednesday Myers, Regan Myers, and Bianca Orsburn. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Hanson.
