Funeral services for David Carpenter, age 61, of Como, will be conducted in the Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009, with Brother L. D. Baxley and Brother Lloyd Cashions officiating. Interment will follow at Greenpond Cemetery, with Durwood Smith, Herb Cotton, Jr. Larry Abbott, Lanny Jenkins, Kimmy Barrett and Charlie Harris, serving as pallbearers. Mr. Carpenter's grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
David Carpenter passed away Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Hopkins County, on December 12, 1948, the son of H. C. (Pete) Carpenter and Nell (Cotton) Carpenter. He married Joyce Marie Hicks in Como, on June 19, 1966; she survives. Mr. Carpenter was a plant manager for A. P. Green Industries. He was of the Baptist faith, serving as an active deacon since 1980 and a 32nd degree Mason.
Other survivors include; two sons, Rodney Carpenter and wife, Nikki, of Sulphur Springs and Clif Carpenter and wife, Jill, of Como; two daughters, Connie Clanton and husband, Craig, of Pickton and Angila Lawson and husband, David, of Sulphur Springs; mother, Nell Carpenter of Como; sister, Bonnie Carpenter of Winnsboro; ten grandchildren, Casey, Shea and Morgan Smith, Brent and Tristyn Rutledge, Denton Lawson, Dillon, Dawson and Deacon Carpenter and Sean Carpenter.
