Funeral service for Darryl Conine, age 89, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas with Kirk Luecke officiating. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney, Texas with Mike Withrow, Ryan Withrow, Blake Withrow, Chase Withrow, Alan Stephens, and Justin Stephens serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Allan Payne and Todd Payne. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Conine passed away at Wesley House Assisted Living on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Darryl Conine was born on November 27, 1934, in Dallas, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Kay Hodges, on January 31, 1958. Darryl served eight years in the US Marine Corps Reserves, from 1953-1961. Darryl worked for John Sexton & Co., a food distribution company, as a sales representative. He was there for 48 years and was their first “Million Dollar Salesman” and stayed their #1 Salesman for many years during his tenure with the company.
Darryl was a huge fisherman and was the proud founder and first President of the Forney Senior Christian Bass Club. He has many accolades as he won Big Bass for the year 2013, (8.12 lbs.) and 2014, (10 lbs. @ 25") and Angler of the year!!!
Darryl also loved to play golf, dominoes, corn hole but most importantly enjoyed playing games with his kids and grandkids.
Darryl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sandra Conine of Sulphur Springs, TX; daughters, Kathy Withrow (Mike) of Sulphur Springs, TX and Misty Stephens (Alan) of Scurry, TX; grandchildren, Ryan Withrow (Megan) and their son Townes; Darryl Blake Withrow (Kelcee); Chase Withrow (Cayli) and their daughter Lila; Ashley Stephens (Jasmine) and their daughter Aaliyah; Katie Stephens and her daughters, Casey and Mackenzie; and Justin Stephens; sisters, Linda Tramel of Kaufman, TX and Debbie Payne (Allan) of Rockwall, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Conine; and infant son; sister, Molly Jean Curnutt; and brother, Edward “Bubba” David Conine, Jr.
