Funeral services for Danny Elliott, age 59, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Shane Carrington will officiate.
A military graveside service will be conducted by the Hopkins County Military Coalition, at the Hagensport Cemetery, following formal services. Jared Fitch, Jerry Green, Jr., Jake Elliott, Daniel Romans, Marlin Jones, and Durwood Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Caudle, Don Petty, Ray Wilson, Tom McLemore, Bob Parker, and Richie White.
Visitation will be from 6:00 t0 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the funeral home.
Mr. Elliott passed away on Thursday afternoon, February 28, 2008, at his residence, following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Deport, Texas, on November 14, 1948, the son of Walter Maurice and Neval Merl Bolton Elliott. He married Wanda Grace Wilhite, in Greenville, on June 5, 1992. She survives.
Mr. Elliott was a truck driver and a member of Southside Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Navy, during the Vietnam War.
Other survivors include: three sons, Ronald Pierson, of Mangum, Oklahoma, Kenneth Elliott of McKinney, and Daniel Elliott of Sulphur Springs; three daughters, Autumn Pierson of Mangum, Oklahoma, Leanne Reichert of Como, and Cherise Archer of Sulphur Springs; three sisters, Linda Bunch and Betty Elliott, both of Panama City, Florida, and Molly Fitch of Cumby; two brothers, Walter "Bud" Elliott of Amarillo and Johnny Elliott of Cumby; and grandchildren, Devin and Hunter Pierson, Terran and Alexis Reichart, Caleb and Cameron Archer, and Ashlynn Pierson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ada Green.
