Clayton Lowe

Clayton Glynn Lowe created many lifelong friendships with his loving and caring heart. He passed from this life on Thursday, October 28, of pneumonia at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. He was 82 years old. His career spanned 44 years in the banking industry in Northeast Texas. He retired in 1999 as President/CEO of the Sulphur Springs Loan & Building Association, having served there for 22 years. Prior to that, he spent 19 years with the First National Bank in Paris, Texas, his last 13 years as President. He was President of the Lamar Broadcasting Company from 1967 - 1977.
Always active in the community affairs, he was President of Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Paris Industrial Foundation, President of the United Way of Lamar County, President of the Red River Valley Exposition, Director of the NETSEO Trails Boy Scouts of America, Director of the Boys Club, Director of the Paris Junior College Memorial Foundation and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Sulphur Springs Rotary Club.
A lifelong Christian, he was an Elder and Sunday school teacher at the League Street Church of Christ in Sulphur Springs and the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ in Paris. Born March 12, 1928 to Clayton and Doris (Wilson) Lowe of Palestine. He married Frances Yancey on March 2, 1957 in Palestine; she survives. Other survivors include: son, Mark and his wife, Robyn, of Frisco; daughter, Sharon and her husband David Hammond of Tyler; five granddaughters, Laura, Lindsay and Elizabeth Lowe of Frisco and Sydney and Bailey Hammond of Tyler; two brothers, Edwin Lowe and Doug Lowe; sisters, Mildred Holmes, Ann Brewer and Virginia Stanaland, all of Palestine and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Lowe; grandson, Matthew Clayton Lowe; his brother, Leroy; sister, Dorothy; nieces, Kimberly Lowe and Leighann Villareal.
Visitation for Glynn Lowe will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010, with funeral services scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Both events will be held at the League Street Church of Christ, 1100 South League Street in Sulphur Springs, Texas, coordinated through the Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on November 2, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at the Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine, Texas.
