Christene McPherson

A celebration of life service for Christene Blackmon McPherson, age 82 formerly of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at the Mahoney Cemetery with J.W. Corley, Sim Lucas, Don Voss, Randall Voss, Eric Voss and Dennis Jordan serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Christene passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Grace Home in Shreveport, LA. She was born on March 4, 1933 in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Sim and Gaynel Mrytle (Dodd) Blackmon. She married C. R. McPherson, Jr. on June 26, 1954 in Sulphur Springs. She was a retired school teacher having taught for thirty-one years and a member of the Shreve City Baptist Church in Shreveport.

She is survived by her husband; son, C. R. McPherson, II and wife, Linda of Bossier City, LA; sisters, Muriel Lucas of Sulphur Springs and Lorene Corley of Leonard; three grandchildren, Cathleen Warren, Jennifer Collins and Robert McPherson and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ehrle Blackmon and Morgan Blackmon and one son, Christopher McPherson.
