Funeral services for Chris Bennett, age 24, of Longview, will be conducted at First Baptist Church, at 10:00 a.m. , Saturday, June 27, 2009, with Dr. David Hardage and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at South Liberty Cemetery, with Chance Van Winkle, Cody Bain, Tyler Law, Russell Ross, Zane Brown, Dickey Daniel, Wesley Salters and Kyle Mathes serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 2004. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Chris Bennett passed away in Carthage, Tuesday, June 23, 2009, as a result of an auto accident. He was born in Sulphur Springs, on December 11, 1984, the son of Paul Bennett and Susan (Powell) Bennett. He was an oil field technician and he was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: father, Paul Bennett and his wife, Joyce; two brothers, Jeremy Bennett and Wesley Salters; two sisters, Amanda Salters and Megan Salters, all of Sulphur Springs; great-grandmother, Lorene Tarrant of Campbell; grandparents, Ray and Sharlyn Vaughn and Wanda Tully, all of Sulphur Springs; special friend, Anna Lynne Hicks and special aunt and uncle, Linda and Bryan Mathes. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1993; grandparents, Robert and Neva Bennett, Allen and Ruby Cates and Tommy Powell.
