Charlotte Ann Hawkins, affectionately known as the “praying lady” of Sulphur Springs, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on February 5, 2025, at the age of 82. Her deep devotion to her faith and boundless passion for life touched the hearts of all who knew her. Charlotte’s unwavering faith was evident in her daily prayers for the people of this town—she is likely to have prayed for almost everyone she encountered. Her vibrant personality was matched only by her love for her family and community.

Known for her impeccable style, Charlotte was rarely seen without her wig, eyelashes, and signature bling, always radiating joy and confidence. She was a constant source of warmth and encouragement to those around her, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and grace.

A beauty operator for over 50 years, Charlotte found joy in her work, forging lifelong friendships as she cared for the people in her community. She was dedicated to making others feel beautiful inside and out, and her caring nature extended far beyond her profession.

Charlotte was born on February 26, 1942, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to R.A. and Coelia (Parkins) Binkley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sister, Tommie Alice Brooks; and nephew, Buddy Garner.
