Funeral services for Charlie DeBord, age 89, of Richardson, formerly of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in the Myra Wilson Chapel, with Rev. B. J. Teer officiating. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jake DeBord, Josh DeBord, Burke Staes, Jacob Junell, Tim Vice, Alex Williams Bobby Waggoner and Roy McCasland. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Charlie DeBord passed away Friday, July 11, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Sulphur Springs, on June 2, 1919, the son of Jake DeBord, Sr. and Jewell Jobe DeBord. He married Novell Wilburn in Sulphur Springs, on June 24, 1949. She preceded him in death in 1995. Mr. DeBord was a retired technician for Texas Instruments and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include: daughter, Virginia Staes of Allen; son, Jake DeBord of Garland and grandchildren, Josh DeBord, Katie and Alex Staes. He was preceded in death by brother, Jake Jewel DeBord, Jr. and sister, Virginia Junell.
