A funeral service for Rev. Cecil Dodd, age 72, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, with Rev. Michael Stone and Rev. Russell Dulude officiating. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Dodd, Landon Dodd, Brian Dodd, Randy Jenkins, James McCoy and Jim Foley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of First United Pentecostal Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Rev. Cecil Dodd passed away Friday morning, May 17, 2013 at home. He was born in Hopkins County, the son of Elton Edward and Nina Ailene Dodd. He married Linda Sue Stevens in Sulphur Springs on February 3, 1961; she survives. He was a retiredteacher and minister at First United Pentecostal Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Other survivors include: son, Jeffery Grant Dodd; daughter, Jana Lynnette Dodd, both of Sulphur Springs; sister, Bonnie Rubarts of McKinney; brothers, Donald Lee Dodd, Richard Dodd, Glen Dodd, Joe Dan Dodd, all of Sulphur Springs and Rayford Dodd of Paris; and granddaughter, Anjelica Sewell. He was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Hoffman and grandson, Brendon Keith Dodd.
