Funeral services for C. E. Fite, age 92, of Yantis, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012, with Rev. Donald Vaughn officiating. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Yantis Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Auringer, Don Hurley, Jeremy Hurley, Robert DeWitt, Chanse Fite and Cody Fite . Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday August 6, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
C. E. Fite passed away Saturday morning, August 4, 2012 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. He was born in Saltillo on November 27, 1919, the son of Jim Fite and Sadie (Lutrell) Fite. He married Oma King in Yantis on August 9, 1939. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was a retired builder and he was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Survivors include: two daughters, Jamie Herring and husband, Tobie, of Quitman and Vivian Word of Grand Prairie; son, Mike Fite and wife, Valaree of Beach City; two sisters, Doris Jenkins and Mary Jo Peek, both of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Shari Hurley, Shelly Auringer, Kimberly Mapes, Chanse Fite and Kassey DeWitt; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one infant son; one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, one sister and three brothers.
