Bobby Gafford

Visitation for Bobby Carl Gafford, age 83, of Cumby will be held from 2 to 4 P.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel, Sulphur Springs, Texas. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Mr. Bobby Carl Gafford passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 with family surrounding him at his bedside on Cumby, Texas.

Bob was born on October 27, 1933 in Sulphur Springs, to Earl and Edith Cleo (Gibbons) Gafford. Mr. Gafford was a retired mechanic for local various Ford dealerships for 38 years. Bob proudly served our great country in Europe during the Korean War in the early 50’s. Bob married his best friend, Brenda Glenn Sawyer on November 26, 1975 in Cumby, TX. Brought into the marriage of Bob and Brenda were two children; Steven B Sawyer and wife Mary of Naples, FL and Wm. Glenn Sawyer and wife Misty of Greenville, TX.

Bob was previously married to Mary Hall and through that marriage he fathered six children; Carla Jo and husband, Rickey Petty of Cumby, TX, Jimmy Carl Gafford and wife, Crystal of Brashear, TX, Frankie Mike Gafford, Stephen Mark Gafford and wife, Elaine of Sulphur Springs, TX, Kevin Wade Gafford of Brashear, TX and Justin Heath Gafford of New Boston, TX; a special grandson that Bob and Brenda raised for most of his life, Stephen Gafford; 14 other grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother, Dan Gafford and wife, Judy of Garland, TX; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Those who have preceded Bob in death are his parents; two sons, Mike in 2004 and Kevin in 2012; sisters, Mary Webb and Gloria Romans; brothers, Thomas Gafford and Jerry Gafford.

The family would like to thank the Vitas Hospice Care from Greenville and H.B.P.C. Unit of Bonham VA, Texas for all the love and care of Bob and family.
