A funeral service for Bob Morrison, age 81, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pete Adrian and Rev. Debbie Riggsby officiating. A military graveside service under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Hannah Morrison, Michael Morrison, Grant Morrison, Blake Morrison, Bill Morrison and Don Morrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Gideon, Huel Hammond, Bobby Price and the Messenger Class at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Bob Morrison passed away at his residence Monday morning, July 22, 2013. He was born in Brashear on January 24, 1932, the son of Ray Morrison and Ovis (Wright) Morrison. He married Margie Sewell in Garland on September 3, 1954; she survives. He was a retired engineer for Texas Instruments and a very active member of First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League. Other passions included coaching youth sports, fishing, golfing and ranching.
Other survivors include: two sons, Mike Morrison and Tammy of Garland and Randy Morrison and wife Donna of Dallas; sister, Kay Morrison of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Bill Morrison and wife, Gaye of Garland and Don Morrison and wife Frances of Bullard, sister, Lenonna Nichols of Southlake; and grandchildren, Hannah Morrison, Michael Morrison, Grant Morrison and Blake Morrison. He was preceded in death by stepfather, Jim Bruton. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
